GRYTVIKEN / SOUTH GEORGIA, 20.11.2012 - Grytviken is an very interesting place on South Georgia Island: Explorer Sir Ernest-Henry Shackleton
found help here to rescue the 21 men left behind on Elephant Island. Shackelton's grave on the cemetery remembers this part of history.
The place still shows how the Norwegian built whale station looked like. Up to 800 men worked in the whaling business and killed
about 175'000 whales in the waters around South Georgia during ca. 50 years of activitiy until 1965.
